Games
I've been thinking about freemium and how difficult it has become to make "free" work—especially if you don't have much money. We now live in an era defined by gamification, and in this context, games offer a far better go-to-market strategy than traditional freemium.
By "games," I don't just mean literal games. I mean anything fun, lightweight, and rewarding—a toy-like experience that delivers an immediate dopamine hit, a result, or an insight. Quizzes, for example, are incredibly effective: they engage people instantly and help reveal whether there's real alignment between what you offer and the people you're reaching.
Games are low-commitment, free to enter, and they don't demand much from the user. That makes them a powerful option to experiment with when you're trying to onboard new users or validate early interest.
