Morning Pages
One of the most impactful practices in my life has been The Artist's Way — a 12-week programme designed to help creatives get back in touch with their creative soul and heal any damage to it. I've done the programme in various forms over the years, but the core practice I keep returning to is Morning Pages: a term coined by Julia Cameron, who wrote the book. It's simply three A4 pages of stream-of-consciousness writing, done every morning.
Journalling can seem like pointless introspection for an entrepreneur with a million things to be getting on with. But for some reason, clearing the mind first thing unlocks more ease, flow and productivity for the rest of the day. It's well worth the 20-minute investment.
